Blockchain software company Blockstack PBC announced that it will change its name to “Hiro Systems PBC”.
Muneeb Ali, Blockstack’s co-founder and CEO, told Cointelegraph that after the Stacks 2.0 mainnet launches, the team plans to focus on narrower priorities – something they believe has the potential to be an “immense amount in value and opportunities “to unlock:
“We will focus on creating tools for developers who create apps and smart contracts on Bitcoin. This is made possible by the fact that the ecosystem has matured around stacks (…) and important functions are being taken over by other organizations on PBC no longer has to spend most of his time at the level of ecosystem growth or public infrastructure (blockchain). “
In a previous interview, Ali said that the best way to create a personal internet is to anchor applications and smart contracts on the Bitcoin network using Bitcoin as a reserve currency and its powerful blockchain as a security mechanism. “”
In June Algorand and Blockstack started a joint open source project to support the development of an intelligent contract language called “Clarity”. Both companies claimed that existing smart contract languages were neither secure nor predictable enough to meet the growing demands of emerging industries.
