The visa and passport processing company allows its user to pay for the services with Bitcoin
Peninsula Visa, based in San Jose, officially announced that it will introduce Bitcoin as a payment method for its services. Adding Bitcoin as a payment form speeds up getting a U.S. passport.
Users can get passes in just one month. The company found that Bitcoin is accepted in select passport services. The payment function is supported by Coinbase Commerce.
“Giving travelers the option to pay with Bitcoin seems like the right move at the right time.Said the company’s COO, Evan James. James added that he looks forward to seeing travel and other transportation activities return to normal soon.
The majority of U.S. State Department’s passage agencies in the U.S. have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. This happened because many government offices were closed as of March. The disruption of normal routine resulted in delays and inconvenience in passport processing.
The LA Times Around a million passports were amassed at the end of September. However, this has changed as many agencies have started reopening several Foreign Ministry offices.
On November 3, the agency issued a statement that standard applications would take anywhere from 10 to 12 weeks. The accelerated passport process, on the other hand, would take between four and six weeks. Before the coronavirus pandemic broke out, passport processing took a week.
The addition of Bitcoin as a payment method is a step in the right direction as not many government agencies have embraced the idea. Private companies have shown their willingness to adopt crypto payment forms in the past – something that has not been observed at the government level.
