Theta, a blockchain that enables decentralized video streaming, recently updated its main network and added a number of benefits.
The Theta mainnet now offers intelligent contract functions from a block height of 8,411,427, Theta Labs announced in a blog post on Thursday. (At the time of publication, Thetas Blockchain is 8,411,845 high, so updates should be live by now.)
Theta is a project that has been chugging since the first boom in coin supply. The project ended its ICO towards the end of the bubble in January 2018, raising $ 20 million. Although many such ICOs from that period later died or were exposed to regulatory action, Theta has made progress.
Another advantage of the update was noted in the article: “The threshold value for the use of the Guardian node is lowered to 1,000 THETA in block 8,411,427, both for new missions and for additional missions.”
“For this upgrade, existing token holders do not need to take any action or move tokens. There is no token exchange,” the article says. The project expects further updates in the coming weeks, including a Google Chrome extension for theta wallets.
Theta launched its mainnet in early 2020 and posted several headlines in the crypto space this year. Amid a year of positive price movements for the crypto space, theta rose over 1,000% in the first half of 2020.
