Blockchain company Ripple Labs has hired a top manager who previously worked at Amazon
The San Francisco-based company used the services of Devraj Varadhan, formerly Amazon. Varadhan joins Ripple as the new senior vice president of the technical department. In addition to many other tasks, he was hired to lead the company’s engineering team.
Varadhan will try to fill the shoes of his predecessor Chris Kanaan. Kanaan had been a longtime employee of Ripple before leaving. Brad Garlinghouse, the company’s chief executive officer, said he was thrilled to have Varadhan on board.
The blockchain company seems to have found the right person for the role, considering they have the experience of working with giant company Amazon. Varadhan was the company’s Vice President of Delivery Experience for over three years from 2017 to late 2020. Before assuming this position, he briefly worked at Microsoft after having worked for 11 years as Director Software Development at Amazon.
In his statement, Varadhan admitted that technological advances could have a huge impact on everyday life.
“I was on Amazon’s leading development teams for 15 years and experienced firsthand, large-scale, customer-centric innovations that provided people with the basic needs essential to their lives. ”
He went on to explain that the Ripple Network would design and sustain an increase in the efficiency of the global financial network by harnessing the potential of the blockchain with the Internet of Value (IoV). He went on to say that processing transactions on the platform is as easy as sending an email.
“Ripple’s financial network RippleNet and the open developer platform RippleX harness the power of blockchain and digital asset technology, which financial institutions, startups, founders and entrepreneurs can use to significantly improve the speed, costs and reliability of transactions around the world.”
Despite making the headlines recently for all the wrong reasons, Ripple has nonetheless managed to attract several high-profile executives. Varadhan is the newest name among the top guns to join Ripple. Almost a month ago, JPMorgan Chase’s former Chief Regulatory Affairs Officer, Sandie O’Connor, joined the board of directors.
