The Discord community splits when the CEO reveals the pre-released Ethereum integration

Instant messaging platform Discord may soon roll out support for MetaMask and WalletConnect integrations, as shown in a pre-screen screenshot shared by the platform’s CEO Jason Citron. However, part of the Discord community raised concerns about the update and threatened to cancel its Nitro subscriptions.

Citron’s announcement of the upcoming Ethereum blockchain integration came in response to a tweet from Packy McCormick, founder of Not Boring, who shared an article that read:

While Citron’s screenshot of the pre-released Discord application aims to speed up the adoption of crypto, the gaming community defied the move by addressing the ecosystem’s ongoing problems with carbon emissions, money laundering, and uncertainties in the non-fungible token market (NFT) highlighted.
